As you are aware (clients), we are upgrading our email server. Emails have always been a FREE service offered to all new web design clients. To continue this service we are migrating your email account(s) and website to a new server.
Why are we upgrading?
Servers (like computers) become obsolete as technology, support and security move forward. Our present server has been deemed by our hosts as getting to it’s end date so to ensure the best support, a new server is required.
How does the upgrade/migration affect the client?
In theory there will be very little disruption to your email traffic as the transfer process is a mirror of the existing account(s) then a DNS (routing) change. It’s the DNS change than can take a few minutes.
IF YOU HAVE A CRITICAL EMAIL DELIVERY WINDOW LET US KNOW THE DATE/TIME
Why do clients need to archive emails?
This is simply good practice but in the case of a migration like this, it’s to ensure that there are no email losses
How are emails archived?
Delivery to a local device like a PC/Laptop via a dedication email program (ie: Outlook) is an example of archiving your emails.
How are emails NOT archived?
If you’re using our web mail (you log into a web page) and/or just a mobile device, the emails are residing on the server, therefore not delivered to your local device
