Although we enjoy the IT world we now live in, when it breaks we are stuffed!
Luckily this is a rare occurrence but today Microsoft broke the www. Well done to whoever pressed the button today but it goes to prove just how fragile our IT infrastructure is.
There has been for many years big concerns that one global business can control so many aspects of our lives, “all our eggs in one basket” comes to mind. But Microsoft have been allowed to dominate business networks so they become a target or as in this case, the instigator.
If China or Russia want to give the western world a slap, this is one target they’d attack, today we can see why.
Today: (19-7-2024) several major services including: telephone systems, hospitals, banks, emergency services, airlines across the world are down canceling appointments, flights, transaction
Why: Someone pressed a button upgrading security levels that directly impacted on large infrastructures
Repair: already done but now the lawyers make money!
Synopsis: Sure to happen again so back up and stay safe
