Client loses £1,000s business from website inquiries

No names! BUT, just had a call from a client whose website went live end of last year who may have just lost shed loads of money.

As part of the website design hosting package they took up our email plan, we sent over the account set-up details accordingly (it’s a free service, part of our hosting management plan)

Today: the client asked for his email account to be removed from the website and server

“I’ve never set it up on my phone, can’t be asked to keep telling people what it is”

Bearing in mind the email account had been live for about 3 months on the new website we thought it best to check to see if there were any email and inquiry form messages before we deleted.

There were loads!
Thousands of £s worth of enquires. Not surprised, the website SEO worked really well and was top of the Google listing for trade and geographical phrases.

Lesson to be learned?
The client thought all his new inquiries were word of mouth and to be fair the majority probably are because the company workmanship is very high.

But, new businesses and private citizens use Google when they search for local trades – not Yellow pages, Thompson directory or any other database – Google
