Now we are not recommending this as best practice, but if you want a very low costs website? Copy an existing design!
Long term taxis company Canterbury Airport Transfers based in Canterbury wanted to spread their wings into the Whitstable area, but the cost of a new, original, dedicated website was restrictive.
So, next best solution is; use the design they already have that enjoys page one on Google stubs for Canterbury searches.
It’s a great idea and as you can see, the design works well with a few tweaks. Our only issue is that Google penalizes duplicate content and will ‘sandbox’ the new web pages. Google may also penalise the original web pages.

So, there is a risk using a copy of an existing website. The same will go for content copied from anther online web page, apart from the obvious copyright issue, Google will know if content is used elsewhere
Here’s the donor website: canterburyairporttransfers.co.uk and here’s the copy design: whitstableairporttransfers.co.uk. As you can see, great corporate design conformity and we have ripped out any references to Canterbury, but over 60% of the website structure is still with the original
Why doesn’t Google like duplicated content (images and text)
Google doesn’t like duplicated content because it can cause issues with search rankings and user experience. Here’s why:
-
SEO Confusion – If multiple pages have the same content, Google may struggle to determine which version is the most relevant and should be ranked higher.
-
Diluted Ranking Power – Instead of one strong page, duplicate content spreads ranking signals across multiple URLs, which weakens SEO efforts.
-
User Experience Issues – If search results show the same content multiple times, it provides little value to users.
-
Spam Prevention – Some websites try to manipulate rankings by copying and reusing content, and Google actively works against this.
