refreshed website content

Refreshed content – the simple SEO answer to going top of Google?

There is no doubt that since Google kicked ‘back linking’ into touch a few years ago it’s now all about streaming original, quality, keyword heavy content into your web pages. Our website homepage is updated on average every week (with posts like this) and the results are very rewarding. In our trade, being top of Google for “website designers in Kent” is a great achievement because every website designer in Kent is trying to do the same thing. But there’s no magic, no tricks, just a few minutes a week adding content. For WordPress websites this is easy… pick a subject you know all about write about 300 words add...

richards taxi dover website design home page

New WordPress website design for Dover Taxi company

We took over a 3rd party WordPress website design for Richards Taxis Dover last year so the client was already familiar with the WordPress editing platform and how WordPress works, but the design was old and a bit tired so the client asked us to re-design the web pages. To complete we needed to find new images plus the client was purchasing new vehicles so we needed to convert images from a phone camera. We sourced free images from our online library, but we also contacted Dover DC marketing who also supplied copyright free imagery. There was also an issue with the logo as we didn’t have an original file...

Just in time for the storms!

Canterbury based tree surgeon John Barton has been a website design client for many years, he was in fact the first tree surgeon with a website back in the day. John’s advertising partners have been on at him for some time to go ‘mobile friendly’ and having read our monthly newsletter about responsive website design, he called and we got the conversion process going. The brief from John was to comply with the Google ‘responsive’ web page requirement and expand his geographical keywords to compliment his Yell.com campaign and paper advertising. This type of business is one of the few left still using traditional paper based marketing! The conversion process...

Canterbury city scape

Local photographer used for Canterbury client images

We’d just completed the draft design for our long term client Langridge IFA (see case study) and agreed with the owner Geoff Langridge to source and use local area photos as part of the web page design. I’d already found a very nice ‘city-scape’ photo on an image library but the image had been pulled from stock leaving me with egg on face. Despite spending some considerable time looking for a replacement I couldn’t find anything like it. I was suffed! We’ve worked with local photographers in the past so I called old friend Trev Liberson from Whitstable who has a large collection of local work but alas not the...

Image use on websites

Every website we build has images. Everyone of those image belong to someone. So, the basic rule of images use on websites (and any other media) is…. if you don’t own it, don’t use it. That may come as a bit of a shock to some of you who probably think if its on Google, it’s free? This is a common misconception and in truth the likelihood of getting caught is slim. But if you do get caught, the penalties are high. basically the owner/creator could take you to court for copyright infringement for £1,000’s not including court costs. We did it! many years ago a local business used our...
