New website for Gillingham Electrical Wholesaler goes live

After a close call with Covid19, Priority Electrical owner Simon Fowler requested a quick re-design of their old website. Having prepared the ground with the previous overseas based design company, Oast House Media managed the web name transfer to a UK registrar and created a temporary holding page. With the site web page still not 100% complete, Simon asked to go live so he could let all his Medway. Kent customers know that they are still trading and open for business. This works well for the client with the Facebook feed we installed allowing staff to add daily updates without any training on how to edit the WordPress web page...

Why does Oast House Media use WordPress for website design?

Oast House Media have been building websites for nearly 20 years and since 2015 we’ve used the WordPress platform, but why? WordPress is FREE! So when you purchase a web design from OHM you’re not paying for any development costs, just the time it takes to put the pages and design together. WordPress is a ‘cloud’ based application enabling updating via the ‘dashboard’ editing pages anywhere in the world as long as you have a secure internet connection. You do not require ‘specialist’ software, WordPress plug-ins can be used to edit images (size) and design the page layout. WordPress is Google friendly, all pages and posts can be optimised to...

Double website commission for existing web design client

Earlier this year we completed the Florin Press website for Graham Williams, a Kent based bespoke printer and wood engravings designer. He must have impressed (no pun intended) as Graham requested a re-design of his personal website: grahamwilliams.co.uk and a new website for international acclaimed constructivist sculptor Naum Gabo: gabo.org.uk Both websites follow a similar simplistic theme using galleries to showcase the work. In the case of the Gabo site we also assisted with the web name purchase and on both sites re-created the logo for web use.

Web design and SEO client sales increase over 400%

We’ve just received a sales income update from a client retailing medical trade stationery showing a 400% increase on product sales over the past 12 month. We converted the site to a Google mobile friendly (responsive) web design 5 years ago and as you can see there’s almost a 50:50 split on device platform use. This confirms Google’s decision to enforce and punish any websites not conforming to their ‘responsive’ requirements and condones our move many years ago away from traditional web page design to WordPress responsive web design. The increased sales over a 12 month period would be the envy of many on-line sales companies. This has been achieved...

Fireplace shop in Deal, new web design

Oast House Media have worked with many new business start-ups over the years. The Firebox based in Deal, Kent sell and install Stoves and Fireplaces but were not sure how a website design would work for them and how they could keep it up to date. A brief meeting in their beautiful showrooms in Deal helped explain all about WordPress websites, logo conversion (OHM re-designed the logo), Google search engine optimisation and the free WordPress training we offer with all web designs. Having worked with other businesses in the fireplace trades, we knew images were going to be plentiful and very good quality so OHM recommended a gallery style web...

Ian Barber & Associates Ltd requested a new web design

Whitstable based architects Ian Barber & Associates Ltd requested a new web design nearly three years ago, we immediately set-up a holding page but the team were too busy to complete sending draft material over to us, great news for Ian and the team! Last month we got the call to complete and honored the old ‘special offer’ pricing to deliver a web page design that can be edited and added to as more project information becomes available. Our WordPress website designs also come with FREE WordPress training here at Oast House Media enabling the Ian Barber & Associates Ltd to update the website pages, posts and galleries from their...

Sandwich Medieval charity website design goes live

Our old Sandwich Events client Steve Laslett (sandwichevents.org.uk) contacted Oast House Media about a new charity website project with a very low budget, basically the question was how could we deliver and professional web design for their ‘Medieval’ section to take over and develop themselves. Oast House Media pride themselves in supporting Kent based clubs and charities with discounted website design so we proposed a structure only (no content) design for their web guys to populate the pages. We are glad to say that process is in progress and we have added another charity to our portfolio see website: sandwichmedieval.org Other charities and clubs discounted websites include: www.ashford-tenterden-umbrella.co.uk www.doverwesternheights.org www.sandwichevents.org.uk...

Deal care home new web design

Generals Meadow Care Home in Walmer, Deal was purchased by long term web design clients Bradfield last year. Owner David Johnson asked Oast House media to look into a new web design using the existing old content but with new images. A new logo design was also required to replace the old version and look similar to the Bradfield design to show a corporate identification. The new WordPress web design is fully editable and as the owner already has experience with their Bradfield website, they can commence editing content immediately. The re-design from start to finish only took a week and included a new web name purchase see website: generalsmeadowcarehome.co.uk

Florin Press new e-commerce shop website

The Florin Press is a unique tribute to traditional printing, a process you would have seen in every major city throughout Europe 300 years ago. It takes a highly skilled and experience technician to be able to create print on hand made papers using inks prepared on site and etched wooden blocks. Owner Graham Williams contacted OHM earlier in the year with a request to create a web design that enables on-line purchases of these beautiful creations. The end product is an amazing study of hand crafted books and prints available to purchase. OHM director Nigel Stevenson also has connections with the litho press printing trades: “It has been an...

WordPress web design upgrade for old client

Local garden maintenance client Carrington & Son have been web design clients for over 6 years but owner Neil Carrington knew it was time to get his web pages ‘mobile friendly’ having read our Newsletters. The new WordPress web design is closely based on the old format using the same content (text created by co-director Wendy Stevenson) but Oast House Media also sourced new free images, upgraded the Google SEO and re-designed the pages so they are mobile responsive. We also created the unique icons you can see on the web pages.
